Lashes
At Monarch Beauty, each lash set is carefully crafted to suit individual eye shape, desired look, and natural lash density. This personalized approach ensures that every set appears distinct and unique. I offer three types of lash sets: Classic (1:1 ratio), Hybrid (a blend of volume and classic), and Russian Volume.
Russian Volume
Russian Volume is a technique pioneered by Olga Dobronravova and is the only semi-permanent lash extension method in the industry. The Russian fans are meticulously handcrafted during the application process, using smaller, thinner, and lighter individual extensions. These fans are then applied to the client's natural lashes using a wrapping technique, ensuring a secure bond at the base of the fan for maximum longevity. The Russian technique requires considerable practice and skill, making it more time-consuming and costly compared to conventional volume extensions. A proper Russian Volume set may take between 3 to 4 hours to complete, depending on the density of your lashes.

There has been some confusion within the lash industry regarding the term "Russian Volume." Some artists refer to it as a particular look or lash fullness, even though the density and fullness (ranging from 2D to 6D) of the Russian technique can be adjusted. Conventional volume sets often use pre-made fans or crystalized fans. Pre-made fans are made either by hand or by a machine before the application, and they are bonded to the natural lash from one surface. Crystalized fans, on the other hand, are crafted during the application using a rolling or pinching technique and then dipped in glue to preserve the fan shape. Both pre-made and crystalized fans may have a thicker base, making them heavier on the lashes, and they are bonded from one side of the natural lash. In contrast, Russian Volume fans are made with a thinner base and dipped in glue once and immediately attached to the natural lash using a wrapping method, with a little bit of wiggle to ensure a 360-degree bond. This technique results in lighter, more even, and longer-lasting extensions.

With proper care, the extensions will remain in place until it is time for your natural lash to shed during the normal lash growth cycle. Despite being known as semi-permanent lash extensions, Russian sets require maintenance every 2-3 weeks. Lashes grow and recycle every 6 weeks, and the extensions will grow along with your natural lashes. As the outgrown lashes require replacement, the fallen lashes will make way for new ones to grow, necessitating extensions for a fuller look.
Furthermore, it is normal to lose 1-6 lashes per day as our lashes naturally replace themselves every 6 weeks. The shedding process is more noticeable when you have extensions, especially since they are darker. This visibility is due to the contrast between the extensions and natural lashes.

Threading vs. Waxing
Threading is an ancient hair removal technique where each hair follicle is pulled out from the root, resulting in longer-lasting results and preventing ingrown hairs. This method is gentle on the skin as it does not involve the use of harmful chemicals, making it suitable even for clients on acutane. Threading provides more control over the amount of hair to be removed, leading to precise brow shaping. It can also effectively remove peach fuzz. Threading utilizes 100% cotton thread that is twisted, and the hair gets caught in the middle of the twist and pulled out from the roots.
On the other hand, waxing involves using a hot chemical to adhere to the hair, which can sometimes cause skin ripping. Additionally, waxing may accidentally remove more hair than intended, and during the pulling of the wax strip, cutting of the hair is possible, resulting in broken hair and leaving behind hair follicles that may lead to faster hair growth and ingrown hair.
